Reliable measurements: a practical CALATI guide

Reliable measurements: a practical CALATI guide

Preparation and zero check

Before measuring, clean the contact surfaces and check zero as described in the model’s manual. Position the sample without tilting and allow the contact to close without forcing the lever.

Comparing measurements

Compare results at the same points and under the same conditions: contact geometry, force, orientation and sample preparation affect the reading. Resolution and accuracy are different characteristics.

Choosing the instrument

Choose the instrument for the application: analog or digital for routine checks, Wireless for data input, Selevision for batch management, CELLO for large openings, PCT for wet areas and 300AST for softness.

Test method and configuration

For ISO 2589 or ISO 17235 measurements, confirm instrument configuration, accessories and the applicable procedure. Mentioning a standard on a product page does not replace the test method.

Cleaning and storage

After use, clean with a soft cloth and store in the protective case. Avoid impacts, direct compressed air, aggressive chemicals and lubricants not specified in the manual.
