Calati CELLO — Digital Thickness Gauge with 50 mm Opening and 300 mm Depth

The Calati CELLO is a professional digital thickness gauge originally developed for master violin makers, to measure the internal thickness of cellos, violas and wooden musical instruments without dismantling them. Thanks to its 300 mm useful depth and opening up to 50 mm, it is also an ideal solution for measuring rubber, leather, hides, wood, technical textiles, flexible materials and rigid materials.

A digital thickness gauge designed to measure where standard tools cannot reach

The Calati CELLO was developed to meet a very specific need: measuring the internal thickness of musical instruments such as cellos and violas, reaching deep and difficult points without dismantling the instrument.

From this specialist application comes a very useful instrument for industrial environments as well, where it is often necessary to check thick, deep or hard-to-reach materials with a reliable digital thickness gauge.

With a 300 mm depth and an opening up to 50 mm, the CELLO allows reliable measurements on parts, panels, samples, sheets and technical materials with significant thickness.

Calati CELLO — digital thickness gauge with large opening and 300 mm useful depth

Ideal for violin making, rubber, leather, wood and technical materials

CELLO is a versatile measuring instrument for users who need to measure high thicknesses or reach deep points of the material.

Violin making and musical instruments

Originally designed for master violin makers, it allows internal thickness measurement of cellos, violas and wooden instruments without dismantling them.

Rubber up to 50 mm

Perfect for checking rubber thickness, sheets, panels and technical materials with significant thickness.

Leather, hides and flexible materials

Useful for measuring leather, hides, technical textiles and flexible materials when a larger opening than standard gauges is required.

Wood and rigid materials

Suitable for wood, panels, rigid samples and materials where a deep and precise measurement is required.

Technical features of Calati CELLO

The CELLO digital thickness gauge combines a wide opening, 300 mm working depth and centesimal digital reading.

Measuring range

0 ÷ 50 mm

Wide opening for measuring thick materials such as rubber, wood, leather, hides and technical materials.

Useful depth

300 mm

Allows internal or deep points of the material to be reached, where standard instruments cannot easily measure.

Resolution

0.01 mm

Centesimal reading for precise and repeatable checks in laboratory, production and quality control.

Accuracy

±0.02 mm

Indicative accuracy under standard operating conditions, suitable for professional measurements.

Measuring contacts

Selectable from the CALATI range

The contacts are selected according to the material to be measured and, when required, according to the applicable ISO standard.

Measuring load

Fixed

The instrument works with a fixed, non-adjustable load to ensure a stable measurement in the selected configuration.

Structure

Painted aluminium

Lightweight and robust body, suitable for daily use in laboratory, workshop or production departments.

Approximate weight

About 450 g

Light and easy to handle, practical even for frequent measurements or complex parts.

Digital display

mm / OZ

Display with zero setting and unit selection, simple and immediate to use.

Protection

Shockproof case

Supplied in a protective case to store the instrument correctly after use.

Measuring contacts selected according to material and ISO standards

The Calati CELLO can be configured with different measuring contacts, selected from the CALATI range according to the material to be checked and, when necessary, according to the relevant ISO standard.

The choice of contacts is important to obtain correct and repeatable measurements: leather, rubber, wood, technical textiles and flexible materials may require different contact geometries depending on the application and the measuring method used.

The measuring load is fixed: the instrument does not work with an adjustable load, but with a constant pressure defined by the selected configuration. For this reason, it is important to choose the contacts most suitable for the material and applicable standard.

50 mm opening: ideal for thick materials

Many traditional digital thickness gauges are designed for small thicknesses. The Calati CELLO, on the other hand, offers an opening up to 50 mm, making it particularly suitable for thicker materials.

This feature makes it useful not only in violin making, but also in quality control of rubber, sheets, panels, technical materials, thick leather, hides and composite materials.

300 mm depth: measure also inside the part

The 300 mm useful depth allows internal areas of the part or material to be reached. This is exactly the feature that made CELLO interesting for master violin makers: measuring inside the instrument without dismantling it.

In production and laboratory environments, the same depth allows measurements far from the edge, improving quality control and flexibility of use.

Why choose the Calati CELLO digital thickness gauge

Large opening

Measures thicknesses up to 50 mm, far beyond standard digital gauges for small thicknesses.

Large depth

The 300 mm depth allows internal measurements or checks far from the material edge.

Configurable contacts

Contacts can be selected from the CALATI range according to the material and reference ISO standard.

Fixed load

The measuring load is fixed, for a stable and consistent reading in the selected configuration.

Precise digital reading

0.01 mm resolution and digital display for fast, clear and repeatable readings.

Made in Italy

CALATI instrument, made in Italy and supported by Danese Srl with assistance and spare parts.

Maintenance and care

To keep the Calati CELLO efficient over time, clean the instrument regularly with a soft cloth and store it in the shockproof protective case after use.

Avoid non-recommended lubricants, direct compressed air and aggressive products. The instrument must be treated as a professional measuring device.
